Techstars Startup Weekend returns to Syria after 14 years, launching across seven cities this April to activate a new generation of founders and drive problem-driven innovation for local economic recovery.

Startup Syria is bringing Techstars Startup Weekend back to Syria after more than 14 years, marking a major milestone for the country’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

This April, Startup Weekend Syria 2026 will launch in seven cities, creating a nationwide platform for aspiring founders, builders, and innovators to take their first steps into entrepreneurship.

Driving Practical, Problem-Driven Innovation

This initiative is designed not only to activate the next generation of founders, but to increase the number of startups emerging in Syria, particularly those focused on addressing essential needs and solving real, on-the-ground challenges across sectors such as services, agriculture, and local economies. By encouraging practical, problem-driven innovation, Startup Weekend aims to support the development of solutions that contribute directly to economic recovery and community resilience.

54 Hours to Turn Ideas Into Action

Over the course of 54 intensive hours, participants from across Syria will come together to pitch ideas, form teams, and build early-stage startups in a fast-paced, collaborative environment designed to turn ideas into action. The program also creates a unique space for founders to connect with like-minded individuals, build strong teams, and test their ideas in a real-world setting.

Winning teams from each city will advance to an intensive bootcamp in Damascus, where they will refine their concepts and prepare for the National Demo Day. There, they will present their startups to a judging panel and compete for the title of Startup Weekend Syria 2026 winner.

Connecting with the Global Ecosystem

Highlighting the broader impact of reintroducing the program in Syria, Emily Skinstad, Senior Director Startup Community at Techstars adds: 'Startup Weekend brings founders and community builders together around a common cause: supporting entrepreneurs to turn ideas into action. By reconnecting this experience in Syria, we’re empowering local founders with the skills, networks, and confidence they need to drive meaningful change in their communities.'

As part of the global Techstars network, Startup Weekend continues to play a key role in activating local ecosystems and connecting founders to opportunities, mentorship, and community.
